Lake Trasimeno, from which this tourist area takes its name, has a surface area of 128 square km and a circumference of 45 km, making it the fourth biggest lake in Italy.
Its maximum depth is 6 metres and it is fed by several small streams.
Three islands rise from the lake: Maggiore, Minore and Polvese, and many picturesque villages (links on the map) nestle in the hills.

In the surroundings there are many interesting towns full of history, works of art and atmosphere as Perugia, Cortona, Arezzo, Siena, Gubbio, Assisi, as well as historical places like Tuoro sul Trasimeno (where the Cartaginese army of Hannibal in 217 BC, during the Punic Wars, won the Battle of Trasimeno) or beautiful and well-known naturalistic sites like the Frasassi Caves  (le Grotte di Frassasi) or the Marmore Falls (la Cascata delle Marmore).

In the vicinity of the house, you can also do many outdoor sport activities like fishing, playing tennis, swimming, horse riding, surfing, hiking, mountain-biking etc.
